One of my most favourite psychological pep talks is the serenity prayer, as told by the community of the Alcoholic Anonymous. It goes like this:
“God, grand me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference .”
Of course you can replace the word God with whatever higher power you believe in.
The point is that in times like that, we gotta learn to surrender the things you cannot change. Dwelling on the whys, and getting stuck on everything that’s wrong with the world right now, is not going to help you at the least, and at the most it will tear you apart and bring you into a place of hopelessness.
So accept the things you cannot change, and change the things you can.
